When I am not busy coming up with daily fashion inspirations for the modern corporate woman or the active globe trotter, I am busy traveling the world and seeking adventure. I am in a very unique place in my life where I am able to do both and consider myself blessed and lucky to be able to share my fashion styles and my travel chronicles with you through Deys of Summer.
I decided to start this site because as a little over a year ago I was able to start dressing up for the corporate world in my own style after having to wear a uniform a.k.a. “the monkey suit” for over 5 years. I get a lot of compliments from my colleagues on my outfits and I love sharing where I get my pieces from. I love how I am able to mix classic pieces with the temporary fad. I am proud to be able to invest in those classic pieces while I can get away with making the outfit complete with smart inexpensive purchases. Traveling is a big source of fashion inspiration for me. The different cultures, religion and history of each place has something unique to offer and I make sure and bring that home with me. I love to experiment and own my choices. My goal is for my readers to come to this site and feel inspired to put together pieces they already have. I want my readers to browse and shop at stores they may never have thought of. I want to encourage my readers to take risks in their wardrobe choices and feel confident when wearing them. There are so many combinations and you do not have to feel like “there’s nothing for me to wear” ever again!
I started traveling the world seven years ago when I started working for the airline industry. I took the job part time while I pursued acting and then once I took my first trip I got hooked. Traveling took priority and now twenty-eight countries later I decided to start writing about the destinations I have been to, share pictures and videos of what it really is like to be there and finally to demonstrate that these places are attainable. Traveling outside the United States and México was unheard of when I was growing up. I always dreamed of leaving my hometown in Texas, live in Los Angeles and travel the world. By the grace of God, I have been able to do just that and see endless beauty. I want to share this with you because if there is one piece of advice that I can give, that advice is to travel and why not, look good doing so. This travel diary is to help you with any questions you may have on any of the destinations that I have been to. I will be sharing my knowledge on subjects like: things to do, what to eat, lodging, budget, and things to know so you can be prepared to have the best time at these destinations.
My whole life seems to be an adventure. I am an adrenaline junkie and it all started when I was eighteen and joined the adventure club in college. Once I went skydiving it was all over. I love dancing. I dance everything, from hip-hop to salsa and bachata. I am bilingual. Spanish is my first language. I am currently learning Portuguese and French. I love running and doing group workouts at the gym, especially dancing ones. I unfortunately do not cook very much but when I do, I like to get creative and come up with some healthy choices. I have a few smoothie videos up on my Vine. I love sports. Soccer, volleyball and indoor rock-climbing are a few of my fave. I like to go to lounges with friends and have delicious cocktails but I can hang with my lager lovin peeps as well.
Being able to have my site as a venue for inspiration, encouragement and as a home for conversation is a dream come true. I want to thank you for visiting and say welcome.
