Deys of Summer Travels to Vietnam – Ch. 2/3 “I Would Stay and Love you, but I have to go.”

Now, where was I? Oh yes, I was telling you how I took this trip to Vietnam to travel solo. I knew I wanted to spend my birthday in Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. I wanted my first stamp in my new passport to be somewhere magical, adventurous and pleasant and it did not disappoint. I want to thank Hanoi Old Town for giving me an amazing surprise and upgrading my room with Silver Sea Cruise for my birthday. I could not have had a better birthday present and for that I want to thank you.

When I got there I realized it was a couples cruise but I did not let that deter my time there. There were two more singles there and we made the best of it. I am known to be the best third-wheel in town. Fact.

For the adventure portion of the cruise, we went kayaking, jumped off the boat and then went swimming. The next day we went on a cave tour.  We started the evening with a five course meal which was exquisite. The day after we were greeted with a buffet of western and asian options for breakfast. I wanted it to be morning already so I could taste their amazing coffee.

I was able to enjoy the most gorgeous of sunsets on the boat. While contemplating it, I could not help but be thankful to God for all my blessings. I have my health, a good job and a handful of people that I can count on for everything if I needed them tomorrow. Right now I am living the life I prayed for at 20 years old and while it took a while, I am finally here. The experiences, good and bad, that I went through up until now have only made me wiser, stronger and more independent than I think I’ll ever be and I can only be thankful for them. To another 35 years living life to the fullest!
